Sanghata Sutra Recitation Circle
Jamyang Leeds has a Sanghata Sutra Recitation Circle
In 2005 Lama Zopa Rinpoche requested recitations of the Sanghata Sutra and to dedicate these to the removal of obstacles to the Maitreya Project. Several of us found this so beneficial that we decided to go on doing it.
We co-ordinate our recitations so that we all recite on the same days (individually at home since we all live miles away from each other!)
If you would like to join in, our next recitation dates are on the New and Full Moons, twice a month.
The next full and new moons are 7 and 21 March, 6 and 20 April, 5 and 19 May, 3 and 18 June,
3 and 18 July, 1, 16 and 30 August, 15 and 29 September, 14 and 28 October, 13 and 27 November and 12 and 27 December.
Members of the Sanghata Circle keep in touch by e-mail or phone. To be included send your contact details to Lorri at smile@jamyangleeds.co.uk : state Sanghata Circle in the subject line! The sutra can be downloaded from:

How to recite the Sanghata Sutra:
1 Get your motivation really clear in your mind before you begin.
2 Recite out loud as quickly as possible. (One recitation takes about 3 hours but do not be put off! Even reciting or writing just one four-line verse is said to bring enormous benefits.)
3 Dedicate at the end.
The Sanghata Sutra has its own website:
http://www.sanghatasutra.net/ which contains a very useful Guide to Reciting and an audio file so we can hear from an expert how to pronounce all the tongue-twisting Sanskrit names.
The site also has a place to register recitations (name optional) so that they can be plotted on a global map. To keep it simple, each person is registering their own recitations, if they wish.
In Leeds:
A copy of the Sanghata Sutra is displayed on a music stand in a corner of the gompa at Jamyang Leeds. The idea is to have an on-going recitation actually in the Centre itself. Anyone with a few minutes to spare is cordially invited to recite a page or so, and then turn the page ready for the next person.
The Sutra of Golden Light:
Some of us plan to recite the Sutra of Golden Light in our homes on Sunday 9 March.
The most recent translation plus advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche can be downloaded from http://www.fpmt.org/golden_light_sutra/ Everyone welcome to join in!
